Hi everyone!
It has been a couple of weeks since I have written our weekly update, and I apologize once again for the delay. Frankly, even just starting this one took a while. I just have not been inspired to write anything.
I am now two-weeks behind my school schedule, which equates to all-hell-breaking-loose in my life. My ability to over-schedule every half hour of my life is like a double-edged sword. Right now, the blade is swinging towards me.
I had a conversation with Hannah this morning and she too seemed pretty stressed. I think she is overstretched with a full time job, extra things to do for the job, wedding preparation, meeting members of two families, and trying to get to know people at two congregations.
I think she is in a difficult situation because her church people know that soon she will be leaving them to officially be a member of our Union family. At the moment, I think her heart is torn because of the loyalty she has for UMEC, but her desire to love and be loved by us.
Although I am in no way trying to stir the friendly Union-UMEC competition, I do realize that Hannah is in an awkward float between the two churches. Similar situations happen to us all the time in our walks of faith. We often compromise our faith, living out our beliefs to a point where it makes us feel comfortable. When living for Jesus becomes embarrassing or difficult, we stop and pretend like we do not know God. This places us a foot in and foot out of the kingdom of God.
God says, “I know your deeds, that you are cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth (Rev 3:15-16).” God wants us to be either cold or hot. God wants us to go all out, not compromise and be mediocre. In fact, God went all out himself for us on the cross. God wants us to choose him, for he has already chosen us.
I pray that all of us choose God more and more frequently in our lives. God bless you.
