URC Weekly 6/12/2011: Professor X
Hi everyone!
I’m writing the beginning of this weekly in Chicago at the moment, but I actually expect to finish it in New York. I think this is easily the coolest setting in which I have written an article, considering that I have not been further east than Las Vegas prior to this trip. Please pray for a meaningful trip.
Anyway, I watched X-Men: the First Class this past Saturday. In this prequel to previous X-Men series, Charles Xavier (Professor X) gathers mutants from all over the world and trains them. In training, Charles finds the strengths of each mutant individual, and consistently encourages and challenges to develop them. In the end, however, Charles is betrayed by half of his students while becoming paralyzed by his best friend.
I saw Jesus Christ in Charles. Jesus found each one of us and helps us to be the finest we are meant to be. As followers of Christ, we too, are called to do the same with those around us. Beloved sons and daughters of God, let us do exactly that in our lives. You know those friends you have that are devoting their lives to something else other than God? Go be Professor X to them. Go be Jesus Christ to them. After all, we are Christians, or little Christ.
God has already blessed us with eternal life. Everything else that we can have in this life is worthless compared to this gracious gift. Let’s put this gift into real action.

• KECA CONFERENCE: Hyonroh, Sam, Charlene attending this week
• UNHCR JOB: $12 per hour, includes 30 hour training, let Hyonroh know if interested
