URC Weekly 2/6/2011: You Are So Important
Hello Family,
I apologize beforehand for this article as it may contain vulgar information, especially for my sisters. Please forgive me as I share this for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Today I had a cystoscopy. It’s a medical exam that doctors give to check your bladder and let’s just say that you wouldn’t appreciate how it’s done. Honestly, I was scared to death. But I did it. I did it because I knew what was at stake – my health.
Several months ago, the same doctor had prescribed me some medications and told me that he would recommend me to have this exam if I didn’t get any better. Although I was deeply hoping and sincerely praying that the medicine would make me better, it didn’t happen.
So, I decided to go through it. It fact, it really was a no-brainer; I was certainly willing to go straight through the fearful idea of having a scope inserted in my body only because I didn’t want to perhaps lose my life, something that’s obviously more important.
I imagine this is somewhat similar to what Jesus went through when He decided to be born as a human. Jesus knew what was going to happen to Him: frequent hunger, lack of sleep, severe poverty, heavy persecution, excruciating physical pain, debilitating mental stress, and profound spiritual agony. Yet I was only scared to death; Christ was actually crucified to death. Death was only an idea to me. To Christ, it was reality.
But dying on the cross was also a no-brainer to Jesus. He was certainly willing to go straight through everything listed above because of you, something obviously more important. You! You are so important to God, that to Him, there was no hesitation in choosing to save you!
Brothers and Sisters, please remember how precious you are to God. And let this great love that God gives you shine as a lifestyle of spiritual worship. God bless you.
