Hi Church,
From my perspective, as a church we’re coming together and seeking the Lord. Last Sunday’s joint service was a revival meeting, as everyone poured out their hearts in a unified worship from start to finish. On an individual level, though, many of us are struggling. All kinds of pressures, conflicts, and anxieties are heavy on our shoulders, and I feel like when we wake up on Monday morning, we’re already tired, looking at the week ahead. The answer is prayer, and if there’s ever a time to gather and call out to the Lord, it’s when we’re carrying a heavy load. Matthew 11: 28“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Bring your burdens to our sanctuary Thursday night, and find rest for your souls in Jesus Christ.
1) PRAYER MEETING: THIS THURSDAY @ 7:30 PM. I can honestly say that every single prayer meeting has been a powerful time of singing praise, meeting the Lord individually, and praying for one another. This week, I want to pray for the needs of our members in hardship, so if that describes you, “Life is short. Pray hard.”
2) SAT PREP PROPS: Last Sunday marked the final class of the second session of SAT Prep. For all of you who have graded, taught, or helped organize this course for the last 21 weeks, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job also to the Professor, for starting and completing a ministry that allowed URC and Youth to bond, blessed the parents, and helped the students inch closer to the coveted 2400.
3) PRAY FOR HUALAPAI CHURCH: Consuming Fire is having a children’s blessing service next Sunday, so please keep them in your prayers. I’ve been lifting them up, and one thing I see is God bringing hope to the destitute. As their sister church, let’s remember them.
4) PROFESSOR PREACHING: THIS SUNDAY. Lift up the Professor, who will be preaching his second sermon for URC. Talking to Hyonroh about it, God has such a direct and relevant message for our church. I’m excited…
5) VBALL SCRIMMAGE: THIS SUNDAY @ 3 PM @ SUNGLIM CHURCH (970 North Virgil Avenue, Los Angeles, 90029). We’ll face off against Sheepgate and Sunglim, and have an awesome time of fellowship. BTW, the VBall tournament is Saturday, 10/2, @ 8 AM, so save the date!!!
6) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Angela Won-Harty
7) DEVOTIONS: Ezekiel 7-12. From chapter 11:
16 “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.’
17 “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.’
18 “They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. 19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God. 21 But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their vile images and detestable idols, I will bring down on their own heads what they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD.”
Let us pray…
