URC Weekly 7/4/10: Beach Worship
Hi Family,
Last weekend had a festive spirit to it with two newlywed couples, a cameo from Rev. Hong (our former Youth Pastor), and the fourth of July. After a relaxing holiday weekend, it’s about to get even better. Two of the greatest words to be put together: Beach worship. Sand beneath your feet, light breeze, sound of crashing waves, and instead of two people lightly clanging Corona bottles, there will be a church worshiping the Lord in the beauty of His creation.
1) BEACH WORSHIP: THIS SUNDAY @ 11 AM @ HUNTINGTON BEACH. We WILL NOT be at Union at 9:30 AM on Sunday, so please spread the word! We’ll meet at Huntington Beach at 11 AM at the beginning of the pier/bridge on Main Street in the picture above (before it hits the sand). After worship, we’ll have lunch, swim, and play until about 4 PM.
JESSICA, HANA, and MICHELLE WON will cater our food, and DAVID will lead us in praise (THANK YOU!).
PLEASE come by 10:45 AM and approach this Sunday as sacredly as you would every other Sunday. Let’s have fun, but let’s also glorify the Lord.
2) PARTY HARTY (Andy’s phrase): THIS THURSDAY @ 5 PM @ JAMES/ANGELA’S. Sparks will fly for three reasons: James’ BBQ from 5-10 PM, John’s bringing his fireworks, and we’ll have a prayer meeting. 3) SAT PREP RETURNS: THIS SATURDAY FROM 2:30 – 7:00 PM. It’s the first class of Session II, so let’s pray for our students and prepare to teach ‘em. For proctors, please be faithful to be at your exams in the future weeks, so the Professor doesn’t end up all sweaty with crazy hair again.
4) MISSIONS TEAM MEETING: THIS SATURDAY @ 5 PM. Crunch time, with less than two weeks to go. I’ll meet with the URC team members @ 7 PM. Praying for y’all…
5) PAY 4/PRAY 4 MISSIONARIES: Sam, Hyonroh, Daniel (Dylan’s uncle), and Austin are our four URC missionaries to the Hualapai tribe this summer. They need to pay $50 for missions expenses, but our leadership wanted to get our congregation to cover them. This Sunday, we’ll sign up to sponsor one of them, paying part of their $50 and committing to pray for them before and during the mission. Please prayerfully consider who you’ll support.
6) MORe MEETING: THIS SUNDAY @ 5 PM @ SHEEPGATE CHURCH. These meetings are MANDATORY for all leaders, so please make it a priority to show up and contribute.
7) PRAYER REQUEST: Please lift up Andy, who may have a ruptured thigh muscle and hasn’t been able to walk normally for weeks. He’s going for an MRI on Friday, so let’s pray for our Great Healer to touch our brother…
8 ) UPLOADED PHOTO ALBUM: VBS, Sam & Charlene’s Wedding (only a few because our photographer bailed…). Nothing beats our kiddos on a water slide! NOTHING!!!
