Hi Family,
Last November, Sam shocked the world (and Charlene!) with an epic surprise proposal. After six months and a ton of planning by the couple, we’re at T-minus four days to the wedding!!! This will be the first wedding within the URC, and it’ll go down as one of the greatest celebrations in our church history. I’ve attended at least 20 weddings, but this one will be special, not only because Sam and Charlene are so close to us, but also because they’re a rare couple that truly shares the love of Christ. Praise God for this blessed union and our chance to be part of it…
1) SAM AND CHARLENE’S WEDDING WEEKEND
DECORATING PARTY: THIS FRIDAY @ 6:30 PM @ CHURCH. Lots of loose ends to tie, and as the Family, let’s step up. Please come out and help decorate the sanctuary. Pizza will be provided, and they asked for RSVPs on their facebook site: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=117118524996981
WEDDING: THIS SATURDAY @ 5 PM @ CHURCH. Pray for our brother and sister, who need the Lord’s presence every day this week. On Saturday, let’s celebrate and be ready to help make everything smooth and silky. Sam and Charlene are swamped this week, so please be flexible and available. THANK YOU!!!
2) SADDLEBACK CONVERSATION GATHERING: THIS THURSDAY @ 7 PM @ SADDLEBACK CHURCH. As the church faces a new age of globalization and a demographic shift toward the Southern hemisphere, what will it mean for the role of American churches and leaders? I’ll be at Sam and Charlene’s wedding rehearsal that night, but I recommend it for anyone with a heart for missions or the worldwide church. Rick Warren and some global church leaders will guide this conversation, so if you’re interested, register on their website: http://saddleback.com/webcast/12cities12conversations/
3) WORLD CUP @ UNION: Whenever Korea plays (starting this Saturday, for the next several weeks), our sanctuary will be open with the game shown on our projector. There will be KM adults with banging drums and kitchen utensils, sleep-deprived kids who will learn how to be fanatics when they grow up, and hopefully a World Cup trophy at the end of it all.
4) VBS: 6/25-26 (Friday-Saturday) FROM 9 AM-6 PM both days. Parents, register your kids either this Sunday or next Sunday ($30 first child, $25 second). They need volunteers, so if you’re interested please talk to Director Kim (pre-school) or Mrs. Hong (Jeremiah’s mom, elementary).
5) HUALAPAI MISSION: 7/18-21 (Sunday-Wednesday) in Peach Springs, AZ. The Lord has been building up this mission more and more for each of the past three years. Many of you signed up when we brought this up a month or so ago, but now that we’re closer to the dates, please let me know if you’re committed to going. Training/preparation meetings are on Saturdays, and I’ll get you more specific details by Sunday.
6) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Hyonroh Lee
7) DEVOTIONS: Isaiah 46-51: “Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it. They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Though one cries out to it, it does not answer; it cannot save him from his troubles.” (46:6, 7)
Celebrate and sing unto the Lord. See y’all this weekend!
