URC Weekly 6/20/10: V-B-S!!!
Hi Everyone,
Those three letters that mean lots of activities, music, skits, loud noises, water spraying everywhere, and the most innocent hearts of worship: V-B-S!!! This year’s theme is “SonQuest Rainforest: Follow Jesus on a Life-Changing Adventure,” and I pray that in the midst of all the fun and craziness, the kiddos’ lives will truly be changed for Christ.
1) PRAYER MEETING: THIS THURSDAY @ 8 PM @ ENGLISH CHAPEL. I think I can safely say that every one of us needs to pray more and more deeply. If you have a non-existent prayer life (or one on life-support), the best remedy is praying with other brothers and sisters. As we learned at the Family Retreat, we can only sustain spiritual growth if we seek the Lord on a daily basis. Let’s come together and pray for power over our personal challenges and for the many important opportunities for ministry this summer.
2) V-B-S!!! THIS THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. ELEMENTARY FROM THURSDAY @ 5 PM – SATURDAY @ 5 PM, PRE-SCHOOL ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY FROM 9 AM – 5 PM. What’s better in life than loving kiddos and leading them to the Lord? URC will be in action all over the place: skits, praise, teaching, professional crying-kid management…
3) HUALAPAI MISSIONS MEETING: THIS SATURDAY @ 5 PM @ BUILDING A. Only a few weeks left, and it’s key to A) Pray; B) Prepare; and C) Bond with the team. If you’ve filled out an application and plan to go this summer, please be committed to the meetings, which will be every Saturday @ 5 PM.
4) BOMYI AND PAUL’S WEDDING: THIS SATURDAY IN NYC!!!!! Our members are getting married left and right. A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Bomyi and Paul on their monumental event! Let’s remember to pray for them during this chaotic, but joyous last week before the wedding.
5) PRAISE TEAM BIBLE STUDY: THIS SUNDAY @ 1 PM.
6) SPRING CLEANING: THIS SUNDAY @ 2 PM. Last Sunday in the Living Room, we had a trail of ants that went to a bag of week-old BJ’s pizza on the ground, below a folding table. Our place is gross, and it’s time to clean. If everyone helps, we’ll be done really quickly, SO PLEASE HELP OUT!
7) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Hyunjoo Yi
8 ) DEVOTIONS: Isaiah 58-63: “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.”
Get some rest this week, it’s gonna be a long, but great weekend.
Sorry, y’all, I realized the Thursday prayer meeting @ 8 PM will conflict with VBS, so we’ll postpone the prayer meeting to make room for late night “Bible study, craft, game, snacks.” I’ll try to send texts, but please spread the word.
