Hi Church,
Mission accomplished for Mother’s Day! People kept asking me who made the delicious bulgogi, and everyone seemed satisfied. Of course, we had to make the tea and plate the kimchee and ttuk last-minute because we forgot, but it got done. THANK YOU to all who prepped, cooked, and distributed the food, the cleanup crew, Sam and Charlene for massive grocery shopping, and Executive Chef Tae. The rice debacle of last year is history, and most importantly, our moms were blessed. SEE PICS ON OUR PHOTOS PAGE.
1) COMMUNITY GROUP: THIS FRIDAY @ 7 PM @ CHARLENE’S (apartment complex on SW corner of Rosecrans and Beach, La Mirada; park on street and call). In the past couple of weeks, we learned about the Case for a Creator, basically, that there’s one chance in a “trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion” that the physical properties of the universe and earth (gravity, cosmological constant, strong nuclear force, DNA/RNA, motor of flagellum…) produce a life-sustaining planet. I’ll take an intelligent Creator over Big Bang, which is the chance I’ll win the mega-lottery 10 times in a row.
This week, we’ll learn the Case for Christ, how we can trust in the reliability of the New Testament and the historical reality of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Of course, it’ll be accompanied by our potluck feast.
2) OC AMERICORPS WEEK SERVICE PROJECT: THIS SATURDAY FROM 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM IN ORANGE COUNTY. It’s a volunteer day to help rebuild homes for low-income, elderly, or disabled residents. For more details, talk to Garnet or go to the facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/n/?event.php&eid=119720641373417&mid=242c451G29295d85G5726a03G7&n_m=sanglee34%40gmail.com
3) PRAISE BIBLE STUDY: THIS SUNDAY @ 1 PM
4) MORE XI PRE-VIVAL: A WEEK FROM SUNDAY (5/23) FROM 3-7 PM. It’s coming this summer, but we’re gonna gather early for fellowship, praise, message by Sam Koh, prayer, retreat briefing, and Taco Man.
5) SAM & CHARLENE’S WEDDING: SATURDAY, JUNE 12 @ 5 PM. Save the date for what will go down as one of the greatest days in the history of the human race.
6) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Angela Won-Harty
7) DEVOTIONS: Isaiah 20-26: “You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat” (25:4).
Hope to see you on Friday!!!
