URC Weekly 4/11/10: The Case for a Creator

URC Weekly 4/11/10: The Case for a Creator

Hi Family,

Sam, Hyonroh, and I have been at our denomination’s (Korean Evangelical Church of America) national conference for senior pastors, elders, and EM pastors.  We thank y’all for your prayers because we’ve bonded strongly over a ton of food and in sharing our common struggles and victories with one another.  As I shared about Union with them, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for each member, all those who serve, the past legacy and the future hopes, and the kingdom of God advancing through The Family.  I told the pastors that we’re in a stage where we have an overall unity and many servants, but God is shaking the foundations of our faith: 1) Do we believe in the true Gospel of Jesus, as Lord of every inch of our lives, and Savior of our souls from hell into heaven?  2) How much do we believe?  Enough to make us a little crazy?  3) How much are we sharing what we believe to spread the true Gospel?  We’ve been working on #’s 1 and 2, and now, in our Bible studies and sermons, we’ll address #3.

1) COMMUNITY GROUP: THIS FRIDAY @ 7 PM @ SANG/GRACE’S (1907 Delta Ave., Rosemead, 91770).  Is there a God?  How do you know?  We’ll study the Christian defense against atheism, as we watch a DVD from Lee Strobel’s “The Case for a Creator.”  Of course, the spiritual food will be accompanied by our potluck food…

2) PRAISE BIBLE STUDY: THIS SUNDAY @ 1 PM.

3) SPORTS SUNDAY: THIS SUNDAY @ 3 PM @ SUNNY HILLS HIGH SCHOOL (645 S Barranca Ave., West Covina, 91791).  Bring your gear for our monthly sports outing.  Basketball, football (practicing for our upcoming game against OKEC), and tennis (I’ll play the Commander for EM drinks!).

4) AGAPE HOME MISSION: THIS TUESDAY @ 7 PM (2205 S. Hobart Blvd., LA, 90018).  Our quarterly fellowship/worship with brothers and sisters from Agape Home Mission, which houses the homeless and recovering addicts.  Last time was a great beginning of new friendships, and I hope all of you join us to continue building them because this is living out the Gospel.

5) WHITE DAY: A WEEK FROM SATURDAY (4/24).  The sisters will treat us to a brother appreciation day, and the best way to appreciate a brother is to feed him.  Save the date!

6) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Austin Lee

7) DEVOTIONS: Song of Songs 6-Isaiah 3.  “Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away” (Song of Songs 6:6).

See you this weekend!
