Hi Everyone,
In our Annual Meeting, I asked if y’all could say what your favorite church memory was from 2009, and David replied, “Can’t. So many…” Praise God for an amazing year in The Family, and for bringing us together in our vision for 2010, when “The Holy Bible” will be our theme. Let’s go into next year “loving one another as [Jesus has] loved us,” beginning with the UC Irvine Health Center Developmental Screening…
1) ANNUAL MEETING/BUDGET: I’ve attached both to y’all in an email tonight, so if you haven’t recevied it, let me know. As I said, in the email, your contributions matter, and what you suggested during our meeting are in bold on both the report and financial documents. If you have further thoughts, send ‘em my way. Either way, keep our church family in prayer for 2010…
2) AM PRAYER MEETINGS: THIS WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY (5 AM), SATURDAY (6 AM) @ THE LARGE SANCTUARY. We’re praying for our entire church as we move into the New Year. This morning, we sat in groups, according to our ministries, and prayed for one another. Afterwards, a good time hanging out with our KM over yummy donuts and coffee. If it’s tough to make it during the week, try to at least come on Saturday, when the younger generation will be there with the KM, and we’ll have McDonald’s afterward. Am I trying to use food as a motivator for spiritual commitment? Yes I am.
3) TNF: THIS THURSDAY @ 7 PM @ SOUPLANTATION (PUENTE HILLS MALL). TNF is now once/month, so let’s get together and AYCE. I’ll bring coupons for “Buy One Get One Free Adult Meal with purchase of 2 beverages,” so make sure you get one before you pay.
4) UC IRVINE HEALTH CENTER DEVELOPMENTAL SCREEING: THIS FRIDAY FROM 7 AM – 4 PM (three-hour slots) @ UC Irvine Family Health Center (800 N Main Street, Santa Ana). They need as many volunteers as possible: “Over 2000 families will stand in line to see Santa and receive a free gift. They will camp out overnight and wait in line for hours to participate. We anticipate that there will be approximately 700 children that could possibly be eligible to be screened on this day by the AAP. The families were very interested in completing the screening questionnaire last year and so this event should be very successful again this year.” I believe the screening will be for developmental disorders (e.g., autism, mental delays, language impairments), and early diagnosis is a key to improving health and well-being.
Sam got a bunch of your applications, but if you didn’t get one, talk to Sam ASAP. “Love one another…”
5) BAPTISM CLASS: THIS SATURDAY @ 8 AM @ LIVING ROOM. For those of you who want to be baptized this Sunday, we’ll meet after the AM Prayer Meeting (NOT 3 PM @ James’ house) for teaching on foundational theology and significance of baptism. Everyone else, please pray for an encourage those who are baptized on Sunday!
6) CHRISTMAS PARTY: THIS SATURDAY @ 5 PM @ JAMES KIM’S HOUSE (2529 Tiffany Pl., Fullerton, 92833). A night of food (potluck
), games, and the Gift Exchange Game. If you wanna play (don’t have to), bring a wrapped $15-20 gift. It’s pretty fun, so if you can afford it, I recommend joining in. Please bring a real potluck dish (not chips/cookies for this one). That way, we can feast, and then eat again later on. Also, bring any games you wanna play.
For potluck, David is bringing chicken wings, Sarah will make fried rice. Let’s all post a comment below for what we’re bringing, so it’s not all the same stuff (take the 1 minute to register!).
7) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: JANE LIM
8 ) DEVOTIONS: PSALM 132-137 (“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!”)
9) 2009 WINTER RETREAT: OK, details below. BRING $100 BY THIS SUNDAY TO WON. If you haven’t signed up but wanna go, let me know by this Sunday.
