URC Weekly 11/8/09: Night of Praise
Hi Everyone,
Recently, I’ve seen many of our church members going through incredible hardships, but I’ve also seen a commitment to pray, with conviction and power, as a response. As we’ve called on the name of the Lord, He has answered, and, one by one, each of you is becoming a living testimony of God’s answers to prayer. The mosaic of those answered prayers is a glorious image of God, so let’s push forward with that image as a reminder that He continues to work in our church…
1) TNF: THIS THURSDAY @ 7 PM @ PHO PASTEUR (8821 Valley Blvd, Rosemead, 91770). Formula for a delicious Pho restaurant: Someone seats you within 0.5 seconds of entering, the cleanliness rating is a B (not A), food comes out in 3.9 minutes, it’s owned by Vietnamese people (not Korean), and when you ask the Vietnamese banker at Citibank what the best Pho place is, he names this restaurant in 0.8 seconds. It’s all about the speed.
2) UMEC PRAISE NIGHT: THIS SATURDAY @ 6 PM @ United Mission Evangelical Church (11145 Morrison St., North Hollywood, 91601). OKEC hosted first, then us, and now UMEC! Not sure if Taco Man will be there, but I am sure each of you, that God has chosen by name, will be there. The Westminster Catechism of 1648 says, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.” Let’s pray for exactly that this week, and then glorify and enjoy Him on Saturday.
3) THANKSGIVING @ THE PARK: A WEEK FROM SATURDAY (11/21) FROM 11 AM-5 PM @ COVINA PARK. Thanksgiving week is a time of abundance for many, but also one of great need for others. We’ll bring Thanksgiving to the park, as we serve a full traditional meal, have performances, family activities, and a message for community members and the homeless in West Covina. We’ll game plan and deploy further this Sunday…
4) JOINT THANKSGIVING SERVICE: A WEEK FROM SUNDAY (11/22) @ 11 AM @ ENGLISH SANCTUARY. The entire Education Dept. will gather, from the little ones to the old people (us) for a God-honoring service. DO NOT COME @ 9:30 AM, but DO COME BEFORE 11 AM, so the old folks set an example.
5) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Sam Roberson-Yi
6) DEVOTIONS: Psalm 107-112 (“For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.”)
