Hi Family,
After a weekend of action-packed adventure @ the park, it’s time for… Holy-Winning Day! That’s right, the single worst name ever created to convert a secular holiday into a Christian one. Halloween smoothly transitions into Holyween, but no, we’ve gotta go with Holy-Winning Day. Can an EM member name these things? Even with a bad name, there will be games, treats, activites for all the kids (in big and small bodies)…
1) V-BALL TOURNEY: Thanks again to all who came out to support our team. We went 2-2, then lost a nail-biter in the first round of the playoffs, but we won and lost with integrity. As a guy from another church said, the best players on other teams wouldn’t be able to name their senior pastor because they don’t go to that church. Does the “treasure in heaven” passage mean we have a golden first-place KECA trophy waiting for us when we die? Maybe not. Still, we had great play from the girls, improved dramatically from last year, and had a good time with our sister churches. Praise God.
2) TNF: We’ll take a break this week and resume in two weeks. Please send suggestions on where to eat!
3) HOLY-WINNING DAY: THIS SATURDAY FROM 5-7 PM @ UNION. Come join the festivities and check out the costumes on our kiddos and adults (Sam and Ray were Mario and Luigi last year, hahah). Just a fun night to hang out with the church family, and there will probably be food.
4) OCTOBER PICS! Go to our “Photos” page, and you’ll see a thumbnail for the MORe Revival and V-Ball Tourney (courtesy of Sam’s artistry) at the top. Why is September missing? I only had pics of our church anniversary celebration (courtesy of me), and Grace said nobody would like them. Thanks, fun-killer, thanks. Actually, they were bad pics, so enjoy October.
5) UMEC PRAISE NIGHT: 11/14 @ 6 PM. Save the date!
6) UPDATED DIRECTORY: You should’ve gotten an email with an updated URC directory attached. Let me know if you didn’t get it, and if I have mistakes, missing info, or missing people, please email me corrections.
7) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Jessica Kim
8 ) DEVOTIONS: Psalm 95-100: “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever, his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
