URC Weekly 9/13/09: Culinary Redemption
God has the power to redeem all things, even meals for 200 people where the rice is left uncooked on Mother’s Day. This Sunday will be our chance, as we cook gohm-tang for the church. Will pride replace disgrace when the parents look on their URC children on Sunday? We’ll see…
1) Website Email Problems: If you’re not receiving website updates in your email, and you’ve subscribed, tell me on Sunday, and we’ll try to fix it.
2) TNF: Up to y’all… Grace and I forgot we had dinner with out-of-town friends this Thursday, so if you wanna eat together, call each other up. You might have more fun without us old folks around. BTW, if you have suggestions on places to eat in future weeks, let me know.
3) COOKING LUNCH FOR CHURCH: THIS SUNDAY @ 8:45 AM/10:45 AM. Parents who are free, let’s meet @ 10:30 AM on Saturday to prep. For the rest of y’all, on Sunday, we need rice washers @ 8:45 AM sharp (Alice’s mom will check the water level @ 9), and we need to prepare the food and tables right after worship service. Like the Olympic USA Basketball, this is the Redeem Team.
4) PRAISE TEAM BIBLE STUDY: THIS SUNDAY @ 1 PM. Thank God for Hyunjoo and Sarah, who will lead praise with John and Jacob. I’m excited for how the Lord will use these four to make praise God-honoring in a fresh way (one of you owes us homework from last month, haha).
5) VBALL PRACTICE: THIS SUNDAY AFTER CLEANING. Back in action…
6) JOINT WORSHIP SERVICE: A WEEK FROM SUNDAY (9/27) @ 10 AM. For our church’s birthday celebration, we’ll meet together in the large sanctuary @ 10 AM (renowned guest speaker from India), then have a celebration festival @ 1 PM.
7) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Joel Kim
8 ) DEVOTIONS: Psalm 59-64 (“Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”)
