URC Weekly 6/7/09: Jesus Walks… With You

Hi Everyone,

Writing from Indianapolis, where Sam and I have had such a deep experience @ our pastors’ conference.  Transforming lessons in prayer, missions, relationships with our KM pastors… and we took a bus ride for a lap on the INDY 500, baby!!!  Seriously, though, I felt a call to pray like never before, and it’s a call for our entire church family.  For all the ministries we’re preparing for this summer, if we pray with all our hearts before the Lord, some unforgettable things are gonna happen, and many lives will be changed forever:

1) URC PRAISE NIGHT: SUNDAY, 7/12 @ 6 PM @ URC.

WHY: PRAISE JESUS, bring together our church family, and… Taco Man (remember Joon-Soo’s birthday, when he brought the grill and cooked unlimiited tacos for three hours, with carne, chicken, and al pastor!  He’ll cook from 6-7 for us, then we’ll begin worship).

THEME: “JESUS WALKS… WITH YOU” As the rap talks about, Jesus walks with us through our struggles, and in these times of hardship, we can praise Him for giving us strength to overcome.

WHO: UMEC, OKEC, Logos, Sheepgate, South Bay, Eun Sung, URC, and more…

SPEAKER: Randy Choi, EM Pastor @ Eun Sung Presbyterian Church

PERFORMANCES: Hip hop/spoken word from URC’s Ready 2 Bow and other guests performers (R & B)…

WHERE: 710 N. Lark Ellen Ave., West Covina, 91791

Spread the word, and spread the Word.

2) GRADUATIONS: Congratulations to Austin (Thursday) and Michelle (Friday).  Please let them know if you’d like to come to their events.  NO TNF THIS WEEK, due to Austin’s graduation.

3) YOUTH RETREAT MEETING: THIS SUNDAY FROM 4:30-7 PM.  Location will be announced on Sunday.

4) MISSIONS TEAM: A) Missions prayer meetings on the next three Fridays @ 9:30 PM @ Korean Sanctuary; B) Missions meeting this Saturday from 4-9 PM in Building A

5) PRAISE TEAM: Practice for VBS on Saturday @ 5 PM, practice for Praise Night/Worship Service @ 7 PM

6) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: John Yi

7) DEVOTIONS: JOB 17-22 (Job Defending His Integrity Against His Friends)

Can’t wait to get back to LA and see y’all.
