URC Weekly 6/21/09: VBS!
Hi Family,
We’re in the thick of summer: college students back, planning for Youth Retreat, Hualapai Missions next week, and this week, those three initials: V…B…S. Long gone is Cosmic City, and now it’s time for Son Rock Kids Camp, “Where kids build their lives on the rock: Jesus!” It’s a busy summer, but full of God’s work in our church family:
1) WNF: TNF is WNF for this week (apologies for the constantly changing schedule). WEDNESDAY @ 7 PM @ SOUPLANTATION (Southeast of Puente Hills Mall). Due to VBS on Thursday night, we’re gonna do this a day earlier. Come for the most satisfying vegetarian meal on the market, where you ALMOST forget there’s no meat. We checked out the fundraiser stuff, and we’re too late for the paperwork, so we’re just gonna eat.
2) VBS: THURSDAY (6pm), FRIDAY (10am-6pm), SATURDAY (10am-6pm) @ URC. Children’s ministry is no less meaningful than Youth or URC. Thursday is for elementary students and older, and Friday/Saturday for every kiddo (I’m not sure why I must always write “kiddo” or “Pool Tourney #248″; it only happens in URC Weeklies). Praise, Bible stories, crafts, food, puppet shows, water games… it’s the child version of a retreat, and the little ones experience God in an awesome way. Please come and help out, as they’ll need as many leaders/helpers as possible.
3) HUALAPAI MISSIONS: PRAYER MEETING (Friday @ 9:30 PM @ KM Sanctuary), TRAINING (Saturday 4-9:30 PM @ Building A), MISSION TRIP (Sunday 3pm-Wednesday). Less than a week! Please bring your packed bag to church on Friday @ the prayer meeting, so they can start loading: Bible, hymnal, sleeping bag, toiletries, clothes for hot days/cold nights). URC and missions team, let’s pray deeply throughout this week in preparation for the ministry.
4) YOUTH RETREAT MEETING: THIS SUNDAY @ 4:30 PM. Attendance has been a bit low, so please make the commitment to show if you plan on participating @ the retreat.
5) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: WON LEE
6) DEVOTIONS: Job 29-34 (Elihu Joins Debate)
