URC Weekly 5/3/09: The Mother’s Oscars



Hi Family,

Three of our beautiful URC moms, and one future one (!).  Every day that passes with our kids, I believe more and more that Mother’s Day should be an epic celebration, like the Oscars Lifetime Achievement Award, where a string of celebrities talk about their greatness, they walk up to a standing O, and receive a golden statue of Oscar with a dress and hair.  Let’s recognize the worthy this Sunday…

1) MOTHER’S DAY LUNCHEON: THIS SUNDAY AFTER SERVICE.  The elders will be making bulgogi, and URC’s job is to make two enormous vats of rice and wash a farm’s worth of vegetables.  If all of us get to work right after our worship service, it’ll be a glorious meal for our moms.  We’ll serve them also by cleaning up afterwards, so come dressed to work.

2) CG: THIS FRIDAY @ 7 PM @ TAE/SARA’S.  Potluck, Bible study, pool tournament #812.  It’s been too long, but it’s back!

3) PAGA SEMINAR: THIS FRIDAY TO SUNDAY.  Our KM is off to a special prayer retreat that is a huge event in their ministry.  Let’s pray for their three goals for the 30 participants: Assurance of salvation; Powerful experience of the Holy Spirit; and Dedication of life to prayer.

4) SAM’S MESSAGE: THIS SUNDAY @ WORSHIP SERVICE.  Our series on Revelation will continue, but Sam will deliver the sermon this Sunday.  Please keep him in your prayers and open your hearts to God’s Word through him.

5) COORDINATORS’ MEETING: THIS SUNDAY AFTER MOTHER’S DAY LUNCHEON.  We’re already in May, and summer is coming up, so let’s come prayerfully and prepared to discuss God’s ministry plans for the summer months.

7) DEVOTIONS: Nehemiah 10-13 (Restored Capital and People), Esther 1-2 (Esther Becomes Queen)
