URC Weekly 5/24/09: Parents on a Date?!

URC Weekly 5/24/09: Parents on a Date?!

We’re @ the “happiest place on earth,” and as you can see, the parents need to get out ASAP (while the kids are chillin’, hahaha).  For our parent outing this Sunday, the dads have talked about watching Star Trek and then Terminator consecutively, with a large amount of popcorn and soda, but we’ll probably go with the moms’ plan of one movie and dinner, like normal people.  Before then:

1) TNF: THIS THURSDAY @ 7 PM @ YYI SHI NAE (Corner of South St. and Norwalk Blvd. in Cerritos).  Not sure what the real name of the restaurant is, so call someone if lost, or just ask random Asians walking around.  A magical phrase: “All-you-can-eat Korean BBQ for $10.”

2) YOUTH RETREAT MEETING: THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON.  After a year without our big denominational Youth Retreat, it’s back!  This is the first general meeting for anyone interested in helping out, and the URC provides the greatest retreat staff.  We really need help with the 200+ students, so ask Sam or Sarah for details on time and place.

3) VBS MEETING: THIS SUNDAY @ 12:30 IN BUILDING A.  Don’t forget our little kiddos!  If you wanna help out with sports or other activities outside class time, come check it out or talk to R2B.

4) PARENT DATE NIGHT: THIS SUNDAY FROM 3-8 PM.  Dylan.  Ayden.  Lina.  Joon-Soo.  Han-Soo.  Good luck.  Ahahah, just kidding.  We’ll attempt to nap our kids by then and provide you with food options for dinner/snacks, as well as a selection of DVDs.  After that you’re on your own!  At last count almost everyone was down for taking care of the kiddos, so much love and thanks from the parents.

5) DODGERS GAME: SUNDAY, 7/19 @ 1:10 PM AGAINST THE HOUSTON ASTROS.  The magical phrase reappears for our seating section: “All-You-Can-Eat Pavilion” (Dodgers call it AYCE Pavilion).  $25 per ticket – $10 support from URC = $15 for as many Dodger Dogs, nachos, peanuts, sodas, and anything else you want until the 7th inning.  And, not that it matters, but there will be a great Dodgers/Astros game going on, too.  We reserved 20 tix, with the option of 10 more, so first paid (to Sara Kim), first served.

6) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: Ludia Cha

7) DEVOTIONS: Job 5-10 (Job and Friends Start Talking About His Suffering)

See y’all for AYCE on Thursday!

i think sang and i are the only ones who comment on this but yay for parents date and yay for AYCE…i see that acronym getting alot of usage in URC’s future.

i’ve noticed… fellowship tends to revolve around food. we need to weigh new URC members this sunday and weigh them again in six months. i’m guessing an average increase of 5lbs. i wonder if there is a correlation between weight gain and spiritual growth? let’s ponder about that… if that’s true, tae and i have reached nirvana

I believe that in a year or two, Union Restoration Chapel will be blacklisted from every AYCE restaurant in the 50 states, and the pictures of half our guys will be on a wanted sign by the cash registers for grand theft. John’s photo will not be one of them.
