“… in this world nothing is said to be certain, except death and taxes.” – Benjamin Franklin
Wednesday is Tax Day, when us ordinary citizens, who labor away to make a buck, have to answer to a behemoth government which determines how much we owe or get back. It makes one feel small and powerless, as do so many challenges that we face. Let’s remember that only this past Sunday was Easter, when the risen Christ gave us the power to conquer everything, even death and taxes. I pray we claim the victory He won, and in these bleak times, live as a people who cannot be defeated. After a Passion Week full of activities, we’re gonna slooowww dooowwwnnn a bit…
1) TNF: THIS THURSDAY @ 7PM @ ROSCOE’S HOUSE OF CHICKEN & WAFFLES (5006 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, 90019). The one time I went, the chicken was solid, but the waffles were the greatest I’ve ever had (I’m pretty sure they’re just sticks of butter in a waffle shape, which is BRILLIANT!). The place is really small, so PLEASE EMAIL ME by Wednesday night if you plan on coming.
2) JOINT SERVICE/ACTIVITY: A WEEK FROM SUNDAY (4/26). This Sunday, we’ll meet for worship @ our usual 9:30 AM time, and the following week, there will be a joint service with the Youth Group @ 11 AM. WON and SAM, please talk to Pastor Joshua about having bowling, Sports Sunday or some other URC/YG activity that afternoon.
3) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING: John Yi
4) DEVOTIONS: Ezra 2-7 (Rebuilding the Temple)
That’s all, folks!
