Union Weekly 3/1/09: ReUNION
Hi Gang,
The day before Ash Wednesday, we were eating like kings and queens (my four cheeseburger sliders!), playing games into the night. Now that Lent has begun, there’s always someone who can’t quite participate in our gatherings because of what they gave up, whether it be meat, sweets, or soda. It’s a reminder that fellowship is not dependent on the things we share, but on the lives we share. This Sunday will be a reunion with old friends (see pic for a reminder of some of them, as well as Won, when he was Grant’s size), so let’s spend time reminiscing about the old days and catching up to now.
1) WOMEN’S THEOLOGY DIALOGUES: 3/5, 7, 12, 14 @ 6 PM @ FULLER. If interested in theology from a woman’s perspective, including from different cultures, check out http://www.fuller.edu/page.aspx?id=6189 for more info on the dialogues.
2) CG: THIS FRIDAY @ 7 PM @ SANG/GRACE’S (1907 Delta Ave., Rosemead, 91770). From now on, we’ll meet for CG EVERY TIME @ 7 PM and it will ALWAYS BE A POTLUCK 
. This Friday, we’ll devour a feast and have a time of sharing and prayer, which we’ve lacked since Bible for Dummies classes on Sundays.
3) ULC REVIVAL CHILDCARE: THIS SATURDAY FROM 6:45-10 PM @ ENGLISH CHAPEL. Let’s pray for our Korean-speaking young adults @ Union Life Chapel, as they have their revival from Thursday to Saturday. On Saturday, DAVID, JACOB, and JOHN will combine forces to lead the children in activities. SARAH KWON, GRACE, and I will be assistants, along with anyone else who wants to help out. DAVID, you’ll be the fearless leader, and you have a budget of $80-100 for food for the kids/us, so let me know @ CG what you want for food. THANK YOU!
4) ReUNION SUNDAY: THIS SUNDAY @ URC. The entire church is reaching out to old-timers who once attended Union, and it’s member-driven more than pastor-driven. We’ll have a special meal for lunch and just hang out instead of discipleship time. Let’s make phone calls to former members who aren’t attending another church, and let’s welcome them back into our family.
5) UPDATED DIRECTORY: Please check your email for an Excel attachment of our URC directory, and email me with any changes. You can pick up a paper copy on Sunday.
6) URC EXPANSION! After ULC moved to the house across the street, the two rooms next to our Living Room were vacant. A bunch of groups lobbied for them, but the powers that be decided to give them to… US (others may share on certain days)! We cleared them out on Sunday, and we’re planning on doing some reconstruction. Let’s thank God, our senior pastor, and Inee’s dad for giving us the much-needed space, and let’s share with whoever wants to use it.
