Union Weekly 2/8/09: Masquerade!



Hi Gang,

President’s Day seems like a random, meaningless holiday to just give us a break.  I think a holiday is for real if you actually stop and think about what it commemorates: MLK, Christmas, Veterans Day… No one really says, “I’m so grateful Columbus was the 2nd guy to discover the New World,” or “Hooray for our 44 Presidents.”  Well, whatever the reason, let’s make the most of the long weekend:

1) TNF: THIS THURSDAY (TOMORROW) @ 7 PM @ SHIN HEUNG ROO (Vermont and Olympic, same plaza as Hodori).  Every couple of weeks, we gather for a good feast and fellowship.  Hyonroh described this place’s signature dish, jjam jjamyun, as a combination of jjajjang myung and jjamppong.  I thought of a bowl where they were mixed and was repulsed.  Then he explained it as two separate dishes in one bowl, separated by a wall in the middle, and I thought it was brilliant.

2) MASQUERADE: THIS FRIDAY @ 8 PM @ ENGLISH CHAPEL.  It’s finally here!  There’s a lineup of several opening hip hop acts before R2B performs and debuts his video “Dragon.”

To symbolize our pretenses, even as Christians, it’s a mask/costume party, so come dressed.  Also, due to the content, it’s for high school students and up.  Let’s bring friends out, enjoy the music, and share the relevant and dynamic Gospel.  For those of you helping out, we’re gonna set up @ 6 PM.

3) SPORTS SUNDAY: THIS SUNDAY AFTER LUNCH.  Last time was better than the Olympics.  What will happen this time?  SAM, SARAH, R2B, please encourage the Youth to join us.

4) GLOBETROTTERS: THIS MONDAY @ 1 PM @ CITIZEN BUSINESS BANK ARENA (Ontario).  $12 per person, including parking.  Please email Sara Kim (taeandsara@gmail.com) ASAP for tix.
