Union Weekly 1/18/09: Celebration

Hi URC,

One day, we’ll say, “We lived through that,” when people talk about Barack Obama being the first black President inaugurated into office.  There was celebration all across the country today, and I’m hopeful for how the US will be redefined in the next four years.  Han-Soo prayed for “Brock Obama,” along with his meal during breakfast, and I hope that no matter who we supported during the election, we can collectively pray for our President.  As we just finished 2 Kings, it’s clear that there are very few kings who are faithful to the Lord, and yet they affect the entire nation.  Other, smaller celebrations coming:

1) CG: THIS FRIDAY @ 7 PM @ TAE AND SARA’S.  Gatherings @ Tae and Sara’s are always cause for celebration.  POTLUCK (WON, drink supplier)!  We’ll study Jesus’ example of how to share the gospel one-on-one.  Of course, URC Pool Tourney #492 afterwards.

2) JOON-SOO’S 1ST BIRTHDAY: THIS SATURDAY @ 1 PM @ FULLER THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY (CATALYST BUILDING – 135 N. Oakland Ave., Pasadena, 91182).  It’s time for the Ddohl Jahnchee (1st birthday), and we’ll have a ton of food and drinks.  You’ll have to find street parking around the campus, and then look for balloons to direct you to the Catalyst (looks like a big, brown house).  Your family members are all welcome, so please answer the evite soon:

3) COORDINATORS’ MEETING: THIS SUNDAY @ 1:30 PM.  Please start planning 2009 for your area of ministry, and come with a calendar of activities, as well as any needs, for the year.  Meal afterwards.

4) MULTI-ETHNIC PRAYER MEETING: A WEEK FROM SATURDAY ON 1/31 @ 8 AM @ NEW BEGINNINGS MINISTRY (13020 Francisquito Avenue, Suite #10, Baldwin Park).  It’s gonna be good stuff, like a multi-ethnic revival meeting.  Suggested donation is $10 per person and BREAKFAST WILL BE PROVIDED.  I need to know how many are coming by this Sunday, so they can accommodate food/seating.

5) SCRIPTURE READING/OFFERING DEDICATION: Deacon Tae

6) DEVOTIONS: 1 Chronicles 1-6

“I will celebrate before the LORD.”  -  King David
